.home. master bath. part 1.

*WARNING:  crazy randomness ahead.*

I know.  there's no excuse.  I haven't blogged in FOREVER.  I could go on and on about how busy I've been, but really, when it boils down to it, I definitely COULD have fit it in...but I didn't.  I think I needed a little break.  but I'm home now, getting things settled around the house.  The girls start school in 2 1/2 weeks, so I'm trying to embrace the last little bit of time we have.  Trying to drink in the last little bit of "little-ness" that Evie has left in her before she starts Kindergarten.  Trying to savor each little sweet moment that Hailey comforts, encourages and helps her little brother.  Trying to figure out WHAT I'm going to do with just Xander all day.  ALL. DAY.

But moving on.....I'm just going to hit the ground running.  I think sometimes I get overwhelmed with the idea of "being behind" in the blog world.  And it stresses me out.  So I just do nothing. 

But instead of doing that, I'm choosing to just post a little, personal blog to get things moving again.  Which apparently means that I just ramble on and on.  and on.  ha!

So here's a little, tiny view of our bathroom.  I do love the little vignettes among my our bathroom.  Sometimes I feel a itty-bitty-bad about how very girly our bathroom is, but it only lasts for an itty-bitty-second.  and its only an itty-bitty-bit.  so I'm already over it.  because really.  look how pretty...

Its actually had a few changes since snapping this photo a few months ago (added a few necklaces, a new bottle of Clinique (thank you my blog readers!) etc -- and that counter.  oh.  its a WHOLE lot messier than this picture shows..)

and I wish there were some peeks at some of the pretties that I've made for our shop in the photos (which yes.  I know.  still isn't open.  but it will be.  soon.  i think.  just sit tight)

But regardless.  I think its yummy.

I have a yummy bathroom.  and i like it.

And I think I'm done blogging for the night.  because I'm tired.  so yup.  that's it.

.home. the boy's room.

the boy's room.  often times this room has become my sanctuary of cleanliness.  which seems backwards, as its the BOY'S room.  Usually boy's rooms are messy.  But no.  Not his.  You see, often times amongst 1378 square feet and 5 (FIVE!) people (and my millions of unfinished projects), things are often left homeless.  Which creates vast amounts of clutter.  But Xander's room.  Yes, Xander's room.  Everything here has a home.  A place for everything and everything in its place.  A lot of times it IS messy, but because everything has a home, its able to be picked up in no time.  We have since made progress on other rooms (well....okay.  the girls room.  for the most part.  not everything has a home, but most...okay.  we're getting there), but Xander's room has always been well organized.  It might be due to the LACK of a ridiculous accumulation of toys, or maybe it was the easy, fun storage ideas I had from the get-go.  Either way, some days I would simply come and rock in his chair, just enjoy the clean, picked up, organized, waaaay cute room. 

so here it is friends...and all I had to do for the pics was make the bed. 

 

the fun wooden signs were made by my step-mom-in-law (Karen -- seen above), my step-sis-in-law (Katie), and myself...they were used in decoration for Xander's baby shower and now they are home in his room.  Such a funn idea and instant room decor..LOVE.

you aren't able to see in the picture, but that vintage suitcase has a painting of a palm tree on the lower right corner...I'll have to go back and photograph just that...

..and various pictures and postcards that fit the beachy/surfer theme.  and his first rash guard...

.home. craft studio/office. part one.

I'm the QUEEN of unfinished projects.  Always starting new things, getting inspired, coming up with ideas, starting them and hardly ever finishing them.  I mean well.  I really do.  I think the problem is that I'm so easily inspired and desire to create that I don't think of what all it will entail for me to see a project through.  And then before I'm finished with project a, I'm moving onto project d (because I was also beginning projects b and c whilst working on little project a..) I'm thinking this is probably why our house is FULL of unfinished, brilliant, projects.  And here's where Jon steps in..he always listens to my "new" ideas and then interjects a plan to get it done.  or sometimes just says....ummm..no.  Have you finished _____ yet?  hahahaha!  Although he's usually super supportive of my ideas and projects, and even new business ideas, I think the ones he typically vetoes are my ideas of putting shelves instead of cabinets in our kitchen, repainting our living room, building a new headboard, putting a lattice wall in our backyard, re-carpeting the stairs, etc.  Really, all of the home projects.  NOT because he doesn't want to do them, but more because he knows me and while I'll start a project (assuming we actually have the funds to make it happen), I'll have little motivation to see it through.  Which would then affect our day to day living.  And I'm starting to see a trend here.  All of the projects that Jon is typically on board with are ones that can be contained into my craft studio/office.  Ahhh, yes.  I'm on to him...sneaky fellow..I know your tricks!

Which leads me to my new, has been on the back burner for AGES, idea.  I'm always inspired by seeing other people's homes, so I thought that I'd add a little home tour feature to our little blog here.  PLUS, as incentive for Jon to help me see it through, it requires me to clean so that I can take pictures..ha!  loop-hole?  indeed. :)

First up, a tiny tour of said studio/office.  We're going to call this studio/office: part 1.  Why a two part-er, you say?  Well that's because I only have three pictures to show right now as its not super clean.  I could only do so much moving of things side to side to take a picture.  loop-hole?  in.deed.

my favorite spot -- all my little things, embellishments, trinkets, little pieces in separate jars, baskets, spice racks, mini drawers, etc.  love.  [and If I had it my way, I wouldn't have an ounce of plastic storage in our home...] Its the hub of all thing creative in our home...
